Alvin Bragg parents-American politician and lawyer, Alvin Leonard Bragg Jr. was born on October 21st, 1973 in Harlem in the United States of America.

Alvin Bragg is from New York State who is serving as the New York County District Attorney. In 2021, he became the first African American and first person of color elected to that office.

He completed his education at Trinity School before enrolling at Harvard College. He got his Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review, after graduating from Harvard Cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in government in 1995.

In June 2019, Bragg launched his bid for Cyrus Vance Jr.’s position as New York County District Attorney in 2021, who did not seek reelection at the time.

Bragg became the first African-American to be elected New York County District Attorney on November 2, 2021, defeating Republican Thomas Kenniff in the general election. He was inaugurated into office on January 1, 2022.

After just three days in office, on January 4, 2022, he said that his office would no longer pursue low-level offenses including fare evasion, resisting arrest, prostitution, and misdemeanors involving cannabis unless they were coupled with a felony charge.

The primary prosecutors in the New York County District Attorney’s investigation of Donald Trump and his enterprises, Carey R. Dunne and Mark F. Pomerantz, unexpectedly resigned on February 23, 2022, after Bragg told them he was unsure about pursuing a case against Mr. Trump.

The district attorney’s office “has moved to jump-start its criminal investigation into Trump’s rumored “hush-money payment to a porn star who claimed she had an affair with Mr. Trump,” according to The New York Times on November 21, 2022.

In January 2023, Bragg told CNN that the investigation was still underway. Trump’s involvement in the payment was the subject of information that the office provided to a grand jury on January 30.

A client attacked José Alba, a bodega employee, on July 7, 2022, over a bag of potato chips. Alba attempted to de-escalate, but after being forced into a wall, defended himself with a knife, murdering the assailant.

In exercising his prosecutorial discretion, Bragg opted to prosecute Alba and set the bail amount at $250,000.

After attempting to use Alba’s knife to stab the deceased attacker, the dead attacker’s girlfriend also attacked Alba with her own knife. Bragg decided not to prosecute her.

After receiving a lot of criticism, Bragg finally decided to dismiss the homicide charges against Alba because it was impossible to establish Alba was responsible for the death at trial.

The Washington Post reported on September 6, 2022, that Stephen Bannon will be prosecuted on September 8 by Bragg’s prosecutors on the same fraud-related charges for which the then-President Trump had granted him a federal pardon in 2020.

The peril that Mr. Bannon seemed to have avoided with a 2021 presidential pardon was revived on September 8 when Bannon was charged with deceiving Citizens who intended to donate to the building of a southern border wall. He pled not guilty.
