Fernandez defeated fellow Canadian Carson Branstine in the Gatineau Challenger final on July 21, 2019, to win her maiden professional singles tennis title.

When Fernandez paired up with Rebecca Marino of Vancouver, they won Fernandez’s first professional doubles championship on the same day.

At the Australian Open, Fernandez played in her first Grand Slam match. She was defeated by Lauren Davis in the opening round after qualifying.

The following week, she defeated world No. 5 Belinda Bencic in the Billie Jean King Cup qualifying round, earning her best career victory.
