Christopher Todd Beck is a former United States Navy SEAL who gained notoriety in 2013 after coming out as a trans woman, then again in 2022 after announcing his detransition. He spent 20 years in the American Navy.

The Navy SEAL used the name “Kristin Beck” while going through his transition. In June 2013, Warrior Princess: A U.S. Navy SEAL’s Road to Coming Out Transgender, a memoir describing his story, was released. The “Warrior Princess” is a collection of short stories that follows Beck as he transitions from a man to a woman to become Kristin Beck.

He is also known as the former U.S. Navy SEAL who made history by being the first transgender person in the elite fighting unit. Beck declared in December 2022 that he had stopped transitioning, stating that it had ruined his life.

Beck was married twice before he transitioned. In 2015, Kristin Beck married his first wife, Heather Stott Beck, a former Air Force officer. They manage Valor Ranch LLC where they live in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and breed Angus livestock and chickens there, according to her Linkedin profile.

Heather has spoken in public and formerly worked with the Military Freedom Coalition as a human rights activist. The former married couple had two sons before they separated.

He described his first wife, Stott, as an awesome person, and they got along very well.

Regarding the former Navy SEAL officer’s gender, he started transitioning in 2011 after retiring from the military. She then made her public debut in 2013 by publishing a photo of herself as a woman on LinkedIn and thereafter doing media interviews.

Beck was attempting to lead three separate lives: one as a secret female identity, one with the Seal teams, and one at home with his wife and kids. Nobody actually got to know Beck because only brief glimpses of his true personality were shown to the public.

He transformed from being a Navy SEAL to sporting long hair and a dress, leading some individuals to believe that she skipped a party.

In his autobiography, Beck describes how, despite never truly feeling gay, his gender dysphoria added to his struggle to emotionally mature while inside a masculine body and caused conflict with his sexual identity.

Formerly known as Kristin, he was born in Pennsylvania on June 21, 1966, and grew up on a small farm. As of 2023, he is 57. He attended a Christian school before enrolling at the Virginia Military Institute, where she earned an electrical engineering degree in 1988.

In 1990, Beck joined the Navy and graduated from the SEAL program. Because they are the “toughest of the tough,” she told CNN, she decided to join the elite fighting squad.

Throughout her 20-year tenure in the Navy, Beck earned the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star with valor, in addition to nearly 50 additional awards, according to the Washington Post. She was a member of the elite SEAL Team 6 and deployed 13 times, including to Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia, and Africa.

In the Democratic primary in Maryland’s Fifth District, Chris ran for Congress in 2016 and came in second. Ballotpedia reports that she finished second to incumbent Rep. Steny Hoyer with 12% of the vote in the Democratic primary.

Speaking of height, there is no official record of the ex-Navy’s height that is available, but given that he was a former navy officer—a position that requires a person to be at least 5 feet 10 inches tall—he may be that height or perhaps even taller.
