Haedo Valdez started his career with Atlético Tembetary, progressing through their youth system to the first team, where he made his debut at the age of 16 in the Paraguayan División Intermedia jersey in 2000. He ended his career with the club after scoring 11 goals in 22 appearances in the tournament. In 2001, he was discovered at German Werder Bremen II, where he scored 15 goals in 30 appearances at Regionalliga Nord in his second season before joining the club's first team. In 2003, Haedo Valdez was selected for the Paraguay National Under-20 Team, where he scored one goal in four appearances at the 2003 World Youth Championship. In his second season with Werder Bremen, he won the 2003 Bundesliga– 04 and DFB-Pokal 2003– 04, scoring five goals in 21 appearances this season.
