American country music singer and actress, Reba Nell McEntire was born on March 28th, 1955 in McAlester, Oklahoma in the United States of America.

Young Reba then started performing at school, beginning in first grade when she sang “Away in a Manger” at an elementary school Christmas pageant.

She joined the 4-H club in the fifth grade, and her performance of “My Sweet Little Alice Blue Gown” earned her first place in the Junior Act category.

She engaged in track and basketball as well. She attended a basketball camp multiple summers. She also studied the guitar and piano. She also became interested in rodeo and began training to compete in barrel races.

The McEntire siblings had been performing frequently by high school. They came together to form the group known as The Singing McEntires.

McEntire, one of four kids, was born and raised in Oklahoma. She and her siblings created the Singing McEntires with the assistance of their mother, who helped them perform at community events and record music for a small label.

Later, McEntire enrolled at Southeastern Oklahoma State University to pursue teacher preparation.

She continued to perform on occasion as well, and country singer Red Steagall overheard her singing at a rodeo event.
