Following high school graduation, he received recruitment offers from colleges like Georgetown University, the Univesity of Georgia, the University of Notre Dame, etc. However, Graza chose to play for the University of Iowa. 

In his first year as Hawkeye, he earned the title of Big Ten freshman of the week. Likewise, he scored his first double-double as a collegiate athlete.
