Orlando Arcia, the stunning no. 13 of the Atlanta Braves, is a Venezuelan professional baseball player. Currently shortstop for the team, Arcia made his major league debut in 2016 after being signed by the Brewers back in 2010.

In just 55 games, Arcia hit .219/.273/.358 with four home runs and 17 RBIs. Next season he went bigger and played a total of 153 games. Likewise, Arcia hit .277/.324/.407 with 15 home runs and 14 stolen bases.

Sadly, on July 1, 2018, Orlando was demoted to AAA for the second time in the season. But soon finished the season, hitting .236/.268/.307 with three homers and 30 RBIs by July.

Moreover, in the 3 NLDS game against the Rockies, he homered off of Wade Davis to extend the Brewers’ lead in their eventual series-clinching 6-0 victory.

Arcia faced an injury again when he knocked out the Marlins at Miller Park with an 8-0. It was the same ankle that he fractured in 2012 as a Minor Leaguer. However, he did not have to miss an entire season this time.

The X-Rays were negative, and nothing was broken. But the stories of injury just did not end here. He injured his left shoulder in July 2019 after a strong face-off with teammate Keston Hiura on a groundball up the middle.

There was nothing to worry about a concussion, but the medical professional warned him to rest for few days.

By the end of 2019, Orlando’s average stats were .243 in batting, 37 home runs, and 159 runs batted. For the year 2020, not only him, almost every players must not have performed much due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Also, the Brewers hired shortstop Luis Urías and had Arcia and Urías platoon at shortstop in 2020. Arcia could only perform for 59 games in which he made 260/.317/.416 batting with 5 home runs and 20 RBI in 173 at-bats. in 2020.

Joining Atlanta Braves

Orlando’s baseball career took a big leap when the big league Atlanta Braves acquired him on April 6, 2021. The Brewers traded him for Patrick Weigel and Chad Sobotka.

Prior to this, Arcia was up for Triple-A Gwinnett Stripers. He also was doing good there, serving more as a catalyst which is the reason why Braves must have thought of hiring him.
