Smith is all over the NBA headlines as he recently shut downed Malika Andrews for interrupting and falsely blaming him while discussing Ime Udoka’s scandal on ESPN’s “First Take”, which is his show. He didn’t hold back a bit when Malika Andrews started to take the discussion in the wrong direction while trying to frame him in for something he never said or claimed upon.
Stephen A. Smith wasn’t wrong with his take as he criticized the Boston Celtics for not being transparent and not treating the unnamed woman the same. As it was a “consensual relationship” but the organization has just suspended Ime Udoka with no information out on the woman. Malika Andrews though had a completely different perspective as she and Stephen A. Smith debated about it and got into a heated discussion. Where Smith shut her down in fashion and showed out the world who is better at the job.
It all started when Stephen A. Smith criticized the Celtics for not being transparent and brought the unnamed woman involved in. And, he is very right doing that as she holds a fair share in it as the reports so far reveal. So he quoted: “Only he is in violation of the company policy?… The woman who elected to have a consensual relationship with him is not in violation?…”
This sensible statement and take by the fan-favorite host just didn’t age well with Malika Andrews. As she criticized and disrespected Stephen A. Smith for his take which is just asking some sensible questions. And, while doing so she quoted: “Stephen A. Smith, with all due respect, this is not about pointing the finger. Stop. What became apparent to me in this press conference is that we do not have all the information here. It was frustrating, to me, that the Celtics declined to elaborate or give more specifics about what exactly the rule-breaking was that led us to this point.”
Malika Andrews also mentioned how she and the Celtics’ management and owners were unhappy with folks bringing in images, names and speculations about women in the organization to link them up with Ime Udoka. She also criticized the franchise for not being completely honest and handling it in a better way. So far it was good and made sense but she ended her take by disrespecting and criticizing Stephen A. Smith for something he never did. As she furiously quoted: “The fact that we are sitting here debating whether somebody else should have been suspended or not, we are not here Stephen A., to further blame women. That’s not why we are here.”
The disrespect thrown by her was real and as we all know Stephen A. Smith ain’t a calm guy who’ll hear you out and correct you later. He did what he’s known for and is really very good at. As clearing the unnecessary dirt off his name he ripped apart Malika Andrews for blaming him and destroyed her in the most savage way possible on national television.

Stephen A. Smith replying to Malika Andrews and her take quoted: “First of all, let me be very clear. I don’t appreciate where you’re going with that, I’m not blaming anybody but Ime Udoka. The fact of the matter is, he deserves to be fired if they were going to fire him. If you’re not going to fire him, then don’t fire him. My issue is all of this being publicized.”
Further, when Malika Andrews tried to jump in and interrupt his sensible take where he, unfortunately, had to defend himself. Stephen A. Smith said: “Excuse me, excuse me, excuse me, I listened to you. You’re the one telling me to stop on my show. It ain’t happening.” He literally ended her with that one single statement. As after that Malika was humble and tried to make up for the mess she has created moments ago.
Stephen A. Smith though didn’t sell away any senseless take. As he mentioned why knowing every party involved is important. Because even though that’s a private thing and consensual it’s being getting discussed publically with reports leaking out way ahead of time. And, just Ime Udoka getting suspended while there’s no piece of information out about the female staff member involved and the franchise is still holding back a lot of necessary details.
So it’s fair to say Smith had a sensible take with necessary questions everyone wants answers to, to know exactly about the situation. Even fans are riding with him as they believe he’s very right with his questions and did a perfect job shutting down Andrews.
