Shaqiri started his professional footballing career in 2007-2008 when he joined the Swiss 1. Liga side, Basel II. His quality was never in doubt which eventually earned him a promotion to the Basel main team. He managed to pull off 19 appearances with 8 goals to his name for the Academy side.
