Carmelo Anthony announced his retirement after 19 seasons in the NBA and mentioned his alleged daughter in a video on Instagram. Anthony was a prolific scorer in the NBA and is one of the top 10 scorers of all time with 28,289 points. Anthony is the only player amongst the top ten without a championship or a league MVP.

Carmelo Anthony has a 16-year-old son Kiyan Anthony who he had with his ex-wife Alani Nicole “La La” Anthony before they separated in 2011 on infidelity counts. Anthony also has an alleged daughter, Genesis Harlo Anthony, with Mia Angel Burks, who alleged Carmelo Anthony as the father. Anthony had denied it until recently when he posted Genesis in his Instagram story post-retirement.

He thanked his supporters and described his departure from the game as bittersweet. In a later video segment, Carmelo discusses the legacy and asserts that it transcends basketball. Despite being born on August 1st, 2017, Genesis Harlo Anthony was not claimed by Carmelo as his daughter as he was splitting up with his wife in 2017.

Carmelo Anthony and his wife filed for divorce in April 2017; shortly after, online rumors about Anthony having a daughter with a second unidentified woman became viral. The player’s confidential source refuted the information, though. Anthony had denied this information and has still not officially claimed Genesis Harlo Anthony as his daughter but has been spotted with her in public and posted her on his Instagram

However, the situation worsened when his alleged side lover, Mia Angel Burks, confirmed a DNA test, and the rumor spread. She thus gained notoriety after consistently uploading images of their daughter and purportedly claimed Anthony was the father. At the time, there were widespread rumors that Carmelo Anthony had a daughter.

After getting hitched in 2010, the couple had been living apart intermittently since their Christmas Day 2004 engagement. La La eventually filed for divorce in June 2021. If La La does decide to date an athlete in the future, she said, “Probably not a basketball player.” The actress and beauty entrepreneur, 40, explained during an episode of Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast that Melo’s trade from the Denver Nuggets to the New York Knicks was the “start” of the end for the couple. Carmelo Anthony was traded to the Knicks in February 2011.
