Czech-born MMA fighter, Jiri Prochazka was born on October 14th, 1992 in the South Moravian of Czechoslovakia, now Czech Republic.

He is Czech-White by ethnicity and has Libra as his Zodiac sign. It is reported that his father died when he was just 6-years-old, hence he was raised by a single mother.

Prochazka was a youth amateur football player for TJ Drustevnk Hostradice. He was also a competitive floorball player and a freestyle BMX rider. Prochazka participated in street fights as a teenager, engaging in more than 100 of them, almost regularly.

As a result, he finally joined the hooligan organization affiliated with FC Zbrojovka Brno, the neighborhood soccer team of Prochazka, and began participating in organized street battles with groups from other teams, including 30-on-30 clashes.

In April 2012, Prochazka made his professional MMA debut for the Gladiator Fighting Championship, which at the time was the biggest event in his native Czech Republic. Within his first two years of fighting professionally, he accrued a 7-2 record.

On December 7, 2013, at GCF 26 FN, in his tenth professional fight, he defeated Czech MMA pioneer Martin olc via flying knee knockout. This victory earned him the first GCF Light Heavyweight Championship.

In the days leading up to his victory over Evgeni Kondratov, Prochazka signed a contract with the Rizin Fighting Federation. Prochazka was the first Czech fighter to join the Rizin Fighting Federation in 2015 after joining the organization with a 14-2-1 record over his first three years in the sport.

On September 29, 2017, Prochazka fought Willian Roberto Alves at Fusion FN 16 – Cage Fight, the homecoming occasion planned by his team. In the first round, he obtained a technical knockout victory.

On December 29, 2017, Prochazka competed against Karl Albrektsson in the second round of the bantamweight competition at the Rizin Fighting World Grand Prix 2017. In the first round, he obtained a technical knockout victory.

On December 31st, 2019, at Rizin 20, Prochazka faced C. B. Dollaway to defend his championship. First-round knockout gave him the victory. This was the final match under Prochazka and Rizin’s contract. After the fight, he renounced his championship and agreed to a new contract with the UFC.

He is the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and currently fights in the Light Heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

He held the first-ever titles for both the Gladiator Fighting Championship and the Rizin Fighting Federation in the light heavyweight division. He is ranked #10 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings as of November 14, 2022.
